Conversations

A ceramic series in threes

β€œOne begins. One responds. One holds the silence that follows.”

Each grouping in Conversations is composed of three handbuilt ceramic vessels that echo the rhythms of dialogue - initiation, reply, and pause. Together, they enact an unfolding exchange, not through speech, but through form, surface, and material resonance.

This series emerges from my experience as an overseas-born Chinese person navigating identity not as a fixed origin but as something formed through difference that is always in motion, and always in relation. In each trio, the vessels are not identical, yet unmistakably connected. They hold tension between sameness and difference, between belonging and apartness.

Conversations is an ongoing exploration of how identity is formed - across generations, across languages, across silences. Each trio asks: what is carried, what is altered, and what is left unsaid?
