Handbuilt from NZ-made speckled buff clay and layered with NZ clay slips, slica sand and engobes, this bowl carries the textures of earth. Its rugged, weathered surface recalls natural landscapes while echoing the aged patinas of ancient ceramics. The interior is finished with a jade glaze, evoking the luminous quality of Chinese jade. Part of the Of Memory and Matter series, the work reflects on cultural inheritance as something both fragile and enduring.
